Family and friends came together to celebrate the late Ace Garate at the “Throwing Aces for Ace” disc golfing fundraiser.
Early Sunday morning, over 80 members of the community participated in “Throwing Aces for Ace” to celebrate the life and legacy of Ace Garate. The theme of the event was to #AceItUp. A mantra that encourages others to perform random acts of kindness as Ace so commonly would.
Carole Garate, cousin of Ace Garate speaks more about the legacy Ace left behind.
The morning was filled with smiles and laughter as many played the 2-round tournament around the Emporia Middle School. Garate speaks more about how this event personified Ace’s active personality.
This event followed the Ace It Up 5K fundraiser earlier this month, also for the Garate family. Fundraising totals from that event have not been announced, although over 120 people participated.
The Garate family encourages the community to spread the word using social media #AceItUp. Visit Facebook.com/AceItUp19 to learn more about Ace and why to extend kindness in his name. Photos of the event are available online at KVOE.com
