The Emporia Police Department plans to confirm information about Monday’s fatal crash in west Emporia on Tuesday.
Police Sgt. Lisa Sage says officers will not issue a news release with next of kin not fully notified.
The crash happened near West Sixth and Lantern Lane shortly before 7 am and involved a pickup truck and pedestrian. Details about how the incident developed and the names of those involved are currently under investigation.
It is KVOE News policy not to release names in cases of injury or fatality incidents unless formally divulged by law enforcement, firefighters or rescue personnel.
8:30 am Monday: One dead after vehicle-pedestrian injury crash report
One person is dead after a crash in far west Emporia on Monday morning.
Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Schmidt confirmed the fatality after a report of a vehicle-pedestrian report in the 3300 block of West Sixth just before 7 am. All other details about this incident are pending and will be divulged as part of a news release expected later in the day.
Sixth is blocked in both directions just west of Lantern Lane as the investigation continues. There is currently no word on when the street will reopen.

7:15 am Monday: Rescue workers responding to vehicle-pedestrian injury crash call
Rescue personnel are headed to the 3300 block of West Sixth Avenue for an injury crash.
Early indications are a vehicle hit a pedestrian near the intersection shortly before 7 am. Further details are not immediately available.
