The USATF Junior Olympic Region 9 Championships are underway in Emporia.
Friday-
Carly Lindenmeyer of Baldwin won the heptathlon for 17-18 year olds.
Mya Sullivan of the Pirate Track Club out of Platte City, Missouri won the heptathlon for 15-16 year olds.
In the pentathlon.
Girls 13-14 age group Reese Pickett of the Pirate Track Club finished in 1st place.
Brian Humphrey competing unattached won the boys 13-14 age group.
Anabelle Miller of the NWO Jets took first in the girls 9-10 year old triathlon.
Jack Johnson of the Pirate Track Club finished in 1st place in the boys 9-10 year old triathlon.
In the Javelin, the winners were:
Girls 17-18 year olds Amaya Harris, competing unattached.
Girls 15-16 year olds Ashley Grothaus of the Jets track club
Girls 13-14 age group Izabella Popa of the No Speed Limit track club.
Boys 17-18 Dylan Grospitch of the NEK Track Club.
Boys 15-16 year olds Walker Newton of the No Speed Limit track club.
Boys 13-14 Kendall Diller of the Shocker track Club
In the Hammer, the winners were:
Girls 17-18 Bailey Tilley – unattached
Girls 15-16 J’Dyn Green – unattached
Boys 17-18 Ian Hammock – unattacched
Boys 15-16 McArthur Moten – Unattached.
In the Steeple chase members of Triple Threat out of Springdale, Arkansas won all 4 races.
In the girls 17-18 age group Saylor Vera took first.
In the girls 15-16 age group Brylee Gogle took first.
In the boys 17-18 age group Hashan Abeygunawardene took first.
In the boys 15-16 age group Noah McMurtrey finished in first place.
In the girls 9-10 1500 meter race walk Chloe Cox of the Power up track club finished in 1st place.
Competetion is schedule to resume at 8am Saturday with field events and the 1500 meter runs.
The meet will wrap up Sunday.
The Top 5 finishers in each event are eligible to advance to the National Junior Olympics.
