Independence Day was honored by the Emporia Senior Center (ESC) with their event, the ‘Olde Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration’ at the park.
Kicking off in the afternoon, the four-hour community event was a huge success, says ESC Board President Karen Hartenbower.
A wide variety of activities kept participants engaged and enthralled including sack races, lizard races, three-legged races, a tug-of-war contest, water balloon tossing, bubble gum blowing, and much more.
While the Emporia Senior Center did host this event, people of all ages were encouraged to attend. Hartenbower says the ESC wants to be more age-inclusive.
