The “All-American Mile” event still sparked the 4th of July spirit despite heavy rainfall.
Even with a 10-minute rain delay, the event still played host to over 50 spirited runners from all ages and backgrounds including work professionals, law enforcement officers, and even a few college athletes. Event Coordinator Asher Delmott was pleased with the patience and resilience of those who participated.
The race was a fundraising event with all proceeds benefitting The Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, a foundation which grants $35,000 scholarships to children of fallen soldiers and law enforcement officers. “All-American Mile” volunteer worker Jacob Kucza (KOO-chuh) speaks more about the event’s success.
There were also some impressive sub 5 minute mile times at the event. 1st place finisher Jared Reinke completed the race with a time of 4:51 alongside 2nd place finisher Gabe Sams with a time of 4:56.
Fundraising totals will be released later. Visit KVOE.com for photos.
