An historic Independence Day celebration will take place at the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve on Saturday.
Historic ranch characters will perform daily activities in the morning, including gardening, cooking, roping and other chores. After a break at 1 pm for a reading of the Declaration of Independence, there will be historic games, including a potato sack race, hoop-and-stick, tug-of-war, an egg-and-spoon race and an egg toss contest.
People attending are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch.
