With a trial date looming next week, a suspect in an Emporia rape case has pleaded to a lesser charge.
On Wednesday, Edgar Hilberto Gonzalez pleaded no contest to aggravated battery. Gonzalez had been charged with rape after an incident in January 2018. The affidavit has been sealed since the case was filed, so there have been no additional details released.
Sentencing is now set for Sept. 11.
