The Emporia Senior Center will be holding an old fashioned 4th of July celebration this year.
The celebration will include a picnic and a large amount of family-oriented activities like a bubble gum blowing contest, a water balloon toss, tug of war, a potato sack race, a lizard race, women’s nail driving, and men’s potato peeling.
ESC Board President Karen Hartenbower says that she hopes the number of family activities during each month will bring more notoriety to the center.
The celebration will be a free event and attendees are only required to bring their own chairs and a potluck dish.
The celebration will be at the senior center park and will run from 3-7 pm with the potluck dinner at 5.
