Two months from now, Emporia will see its newest festival in full swing.
The inaugural Halfway to Everywhere: Music and Arts Festival will take over downtown Emporia on August 31st. The “intensive labor of love” has been in development for the past several years by Kansas Free For Arts and will feature a star-studded line-up of over 40 local and nationally recognized performers.
Event organizer and media relations coordinator Cory Anderson says the festival will feature two big name headliners.
Anderson says the festival is not only garnering attention from local residents but from individuals in other surrounding communities as well.
Not only is Anderson an organizer for the event, but also one of the numerous acts which will be performing in August. Anderson — also known by his stage name Sapphire Son — took time during KVOE’s Talk of Emporia Friday to give listeners a little sample of what they can expect two months from now.
Unlike traditional music festivals, Halfway to Everywhere will be a one-day event and is completely free for the public. On top of the performing acts, residents can also look forward to a variety of art and food vendors as well. The festival is scheduled to take place on Commercial Street from 1-10 pm Saturday, August 31st. For more information click here.
