The Emporia Senior American Legion baseball team is 2-0 after day 1 of the Wichita Aviators tournament.
Post 5 defeated Chanute 10-2. Hayden Baumwart was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Beau Baumgarder was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Jace Stewart drove in 2 runs.
Riley Wagner was the winning pitcher going 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 9 hits with 3 strikeouts.
The Post 5 Seniors also defeated Wellington 5-3. Riley Wagner drove in 2 runs. Hayden Baumwart was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. Ethan Garate was the winning pitcher giving up 2 runs on 6 hits with 7 strikeouts in 6 innings of work.
The Post 5 Seniors are now 22-1 for the season. They will play again Saturday morning against an opponent to be determined. They will then play the Wichita Aviators with a chance at playing in the Championship game.
