The Emporia Senior American Legion baseball team swept a doubleheader from the Kansas Senators Tuesday night.
Post 5 won the first game 8-5, scoring 3 runs in the 1st and 3rd innings and 2 runs in the 4th inning. The Post 5 Seniors out hit the Senators 7-4. No one had more than 1 hit. Sawyer Slayden drove in 2 runs with a double in the 3rd inning.
Emporia won the 2nd game 12-4, scoring 9 runs in the 6th inning. Jace Stewart had the big hit, a bases loaded triple.
Coach Anthony Markowitz said it was encouraging to see the team battle thru some adversity to win both games.
The Emporia Senior Legion is now 19-1 for the season. They will play a 9 inning game at Ottawa Wednesday night.
