Area residents had a chance to see the beauty of gardening during the Lyon County Extension Master Gardening Home Tour.
The tour featured a look at the work of five master gardeners at their homes and one public location.
The locations and master gardeners included:
* Richard and Doris Crone at 1915 Holiday Dr.
* Debbie O’Connor at 1728 Mayfair
* Kent and Jodi Heermann at 1720 Trowman Way
* Leslie Lloyd and Daryn Bontrager at 1724 East Wilman Court,
* The Red Rocks State Historic Site at 927 Exchange,
Some gardeners, such as Master Gardener Richard Crone, began with a surface some may consider impossible to turn into a garden. Crone discusses what he had to work with at the start.
Each gardener had their own unique look to their gardens. Master Gardener Debbie O’Connor says she didn’t want to have just an ordinary garden.
The tours ran from 8 am to 12 pm and were conducted by the Lyon County Extension Master Gardener program from Kansas State University. All proceeds from the tour fund the program’s activities and its outreach program.
