The Emporia Senior and Junior American Legion baseball teams each collected dominating wins over Ottawa Wednesday.
The Senior Legion returned to action Wednesday night, picking up a 10-3 win, at Soden’s Grove, over Ottawa. Kadyn Williams and Camden Kirmer each drove in two runs.
Coach Anthony Markowitz says it was a very balanced effort.
The Senior Legion improves to 13-0 on the season and is scheduled to return to action Friday — playing in the Barton County Tournament.
The Junior Legion team swept Ottawa in a road doubleheader, 13-0 and 20-3.
Bobby Trujillo, Cal Kohlmeier, and Hunter Redeker helped lead the offense in game one with three RBI’s each. Trujillo, Kohlmeier, and Vance Kinsey paced the offensive output in game two, driving in three RBI’s apiece.
Coach Cory Schovick says it was probably their best games of the season — getting good starting pitching and active bats, but also very good defensive play.
The Junior Legion is scheduled to play in the El Dorado Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
