Emporia State Athletics has qualified 80 first-year students for MIAA Academic Honors.
That brings the total to 248 student athletes earning academic honors during the 2018-19 school year. Among them, Softball players Sydney Righi and Jenna Spence, men’s tennis player Luis Maia, women’s tennis player Viktoria Mackova, and football player Gus Woeppel were name MIAA Academic Excellence winners for maintaining 4.0 cumulative GPA’s.
Mackova, men’s tennis player Andy Graf, and baseball player Connor Hurst earned Scholar Athlete status for maintaining a 3.5 GPA and earning All-MIAA honors. Wyatt Siedel was also named Scholar Athlete after scoring at the MIAA Men’s Track and Field Championships.
Emporia State’s over 300 student-athletes combined for a department GPA of 3.11 during the spring 2019 semester.
