The Kansas City Royals opened their series with the Seattle Mariners picking up a 6-4 win, Monday night.
Jorge Soler slugged a two-run go-ahead home run in the eighth inning off Mariner’s reliever Anthony Bass. Manager Ned Yost said the Soler home run was big for their team.
Martin Maldanado added a solo shot in the ninth inning.
Royals’ starter Danny Duffy was cruising through four innings before surrendering a three-run home run to Tom Murphy in the fifth.
The Royals and Mariners continue their series, in Seattle, Tuesday night. Homer Bailey gets the nod, for KC, against the Mariners’ Yusei Kikuchi. Pregame at 8:30, first pitch at 9:10, on KVOE 1400 AM/96.9 FM.
