One individual allegedly involved in a kidnapping case from last fall was sentenced Tuesday in Lyon County District Court on a different charge.
Brandon Villa received 18 months probation after pleading no contest to attempted drug distribution in May. Villa was originally charged with kidnapping, however, that charge was replaced with the attempted marijuana distribution charge following a plea agreement.
Villa has been granted a dispositional departure to serve his probation in Oklahoma, his home state, due to providing what the court calls “substantial assistance” in last falls kidnapping case. Villa will not be allowed to leave Kansas until his probation officer grants permission.
Villa is scheduled to return to Lyon County District Court in March of 2020 for an evaluation.
Villa is one of four defendants charged with the kidnapping and beating of an individual over several days back in September. Another defendant Stacy Steen received over 12 years in prison for her involvement in the case.
Will Anderson was convicted in April on charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery, theft, robbery, burglary and drug possession and is awaiting sentencing on July 19. Sentencing for Ivan Murillo is set for July 31.
