Power has been fully restored following a close to hour-long outage in north Emporia Tuesday.
The outage was reported just before 4 pm Tuesday and affected an area from East 12th Ave. north to Burlingame Road and east to Peyton Street. According to Westar Supervisor of Construction and Maintenance Rolland Trahoon, the outage was caused by a downed wire in the area.
Trahoon tells KVOE News this may have been the result of lingering effects left over from recent storms which have affected the Emporia area the past several weeks. Over 1,000 Westar customers were without power during the outage. Power was fully restored around 4:40 pm.
