An Overland Park woman was hurt after a car and business truck collided near Camp Alexander on Thursday.
Deputy Brandon Early says the crash in the 1300 block of Road 175 was reported shortly before 11 am. The car’s driver, 72-year-old Cynthia Cassel of Overland Park, was eastbound on Road 175 when she tried to make a U-turn at Road N-5 in front of the truck, owned by Grimmett Construction. The truck’s driver, 57-year-old Nick Reedy of Waverly, couldn’t stop in time and hit the car on the driver’s side.
Cassel was taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment of what are currently called non-life-threatening injuries. Reedy was not hurt. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
12:30 pm Thursday: One hurt near Camp Alexander after two-vehicle crash
One woman was hurt when two vehicles collided just east of Emporia on Thursday morning.
Lyon County deputies say a woman reported being eastbound on Road 175. As she tried to turn north in the 1300 block of the road, a truck and trailer owned by Grimmett Construction passed the car and the two vehicles crashed together shortly before 11 am.
The woman was taken to Newman Regional Health for observation and possible treatment. The truck driver was not hurt.
The crash is currently under investigation.
