More roads have been added to the ever growing list locally due to recent rainfall.

River-based flood warnings are up for most area gauges.
*Cottonwood at Emporia: Warning until further notice. The river is at 22.42 feet, above flood stage of 20. It should crest at 25.7 feet Wednesday evening — above where the water covers both lanes of Kansas Highway 99 south of Emporia. There is no estimated time for the river going below flood stage.
*Neosho at Emporia: is currently sitting at 20.5 feet above the flood stage of 19 feet. The river could crest at 23.6 feet by Wednesday afternoon and may drop below flood stage by Thursday afternoon.
*Cottonwood at Plymouth: Warning until Friday evening. River is at 33.49 feet, above flood stage of 32. It should climb to 36.5 feet Wednesday morning and go below flood stage Friday morning.
*Cottonwood at Cottonwood Falls: Warning until Friday night. River is at flood stage of 9.5 feet just nearly above the 9-foot flood stage. It should crest at 13.7 feet Wednesday afternoon. It should go below flood stage Friday morning.
*Neosho River at Neosho Rapids: Warning until further notice. Moderate flooding is underway as the river is currently 24.54 feet, above flood stage of 22. It should crest at 30.6 feet — third all-time for the gauge if the forecast is accurate — around noon Wednesday and then go below flood stage next week.
*Marais des Cygnes above Reading: Warning until Wednesday afternoon. River is at 22 feet, above flood stage of 19. It should below flood stage Wednesday morning.
*The Neosho River at Americus has now been added to the growing list of river-based flood warnings. The warning is in effect until Wednesday night. The river is currently at 23.71 feet. Flood stage is 26 feet. The river is projected to reach flood stage and crest at 26.5 feet by early Wednesday morning before dropping below flood stage later in the evening.

5 pm Tuesday: Road closures and river based flood warnings continue to grow on top of severe thunderstorm watch
As if the heavy rainfall throughout the day wasn’t enough a severe thunderstorm watch has now been issued for several counties in the KVOE listening area.
Counties involved in the watch include Lyon, Chase, Greenwood, Morris and Wabaunsee until 10 pm Tuesday evening. TV-13 Meteorologist Jeremy Goodwin.
The watch follows a large amount of rainfall which has impacted the KVOE listening area since Monday. Several road closures have been announced due to the recent precipitation.
