Our recent trend of hot and sticky weather is about to go to wet and stormy.
Showers and thunderstorms are possible starting in the early morning hours Saturday, and TV-13 meteorologist Doug Meyers says there is a severe weather chance from sunrise all through the day.
All hazards are possible, although hail and high wind are by far the greatest threats.
The risk of thunderstorms and severe weather comes with a host of activities planned this weekend, including graduation-related events and the Flatland Cruisers Car Show. The Emporia Police Department Benefit Association disc golf tournament has been postponed until further notice.
This kicks off an unsettled weather pattern for at least the next week. Much of Sunday should be dry, but shower and thunderstorm chances resume Monday afternoon and stay with us through Thursday, based on the current forecast. Severe weather is also possible Monday and Tuesday, and there is a risk of heavy rain — which could lead to another round of flooding.
