People from across the area gathered southwest of Hartford to watch a special demonstration at the Drone Technolgy Night on Thursday.
USD 252 Southern Lyon County held the event at 763 Road T near Hartford to show off new equipment and give information for their new drone technology program coming next year. The event was mainly used to capture the interest of the local farmers as the program will pair students from the program with local farmers to practice using the drones in an agricultural career setting.
Students at USD 252 like Ted Skalsky have plans for what they will learn through the program. “My grandpa has been passing his farm down for generations and with all the new technology if it could help us yield better crops then it will be a great program,” he said.
Since the program will be starting next year, the teachers involved with the program will be going through different types of training and will need to obtain a pilot license.
Hartford teacher Teresa Weibe said the program has a lot of potential. ” I really think this is gonna be a hit and that we haven’t fully envisioned all the jobs that are gonna come about that will include drone technology,” she said.
