Two of the three incumbents on Emporia’s City Commission are now seeking re-election.
Last month, Becky Smith became the first to announce a bid. Now Rob Gilligan has done likewise.
Gilligan is seeking his third term.
Gilligan joins Smith, current Emporia School Board member Susan Brinkman and political newcomers Joni Austenfeld, Lisa Brittain and Todd Maddox in the field. Incumbent Bobbi Mlynar has not announced whether she plans to file for re-election.
School board, city commission and city council positions are up for election this year. The filing and withdrawal deadline is June 3.
