Local store shelves are feeling the impacts of the recent stretch of rainfall.
Several Emporia businesses have reported a large amount of foot traffic in their aisles with residents searching for products to help alleviate the heavy quantity of water both in and around their homes. Waters True Value Floor Manager Angelica Barajas (Buh-Raw-Huss) says their store specifically has seen a sharp increase since Monday.
The same goes for Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply according to manager Lonnie Standiferd who says their shelves, particularly sump pumps, are looking rather slim.
Mark II manager Aaron Trelc says some shoppers were proactive in their buying over the past week or so. Most others are now getting their immediate needs met, like sump pumps, caulking or sealants.
First Start Rental had people waiting to rent items like pumps and fans Wednesday. Spokesperson Jenny Wagers has been surprised by the demand for rentals.
Barajas adds as of Monday they are currently out of pumps, dehumidifiers and shopvacs. She adds, they are expecting a shipment by Friday evening and should have shelves replenished by Saturday at the latest.
Standiferd says Bluestem is also currently expecting a shipment after they have already had to restock earlier in the week, which should arrive by Friday as well. He adds despite the low supply of pumps they are still well stocked in other items including dehumidifiers.
