The Emporia State Baseball team committed four errors en route to a 7-3 loss to Northwest Missouri State Saturday.
A first-inning home run gave the Bearcats an early 1-0 lead to start the game. Tanner Arst would tie the game with a home-run in the bottom of the first and ESU would take a 3-1 lead thanks to a Connor Hurst single and an Aaron Dees home-run in the fourth.
The Hornets would manage to hold onto the lead before a five-run seventh inning and an insurance run in the top of the ninth would see the Bearcats pick up the win. Jake Barton gave up two earned runs and five total on eight hits in 6.1 innings to take the loss.
Emporia State will try to salvage the final game of the series on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Emporia State’s 12 seniors will be recognized prior to the game at approximately 11:40 a.m.
