State tax receipts for April were better than expected.
The Kansas Department of Revenue says overall tax receipts were $1.2 million, or over $80 million above projections and better than $250 million more than April 2018.
Individual income tax receipts were almost $70 million above estimates, with corporate income tax receipts about $8.5 million above estimates. Retail sales tax receipts, however, were down $2.4 million from April 2018.
Revenue Secretary Mark Burghart says one-time tax payments on capital gains income, along with economic growth and changes in federal and state income tax law from 2017, drove receipts higher.
