The first Child Passenger Safety Check Lane of the year took place on Saturday morning.
Beginning at 9:00 am and lasting until 1:00 pm, this safety event checked the car seats of several children in multiple vehicles throughout the day. Kansas Children Service League representative Bev Long says it was as busy as it has ever been.
Each of the Safe Kids Emporia workers that checked the security of the car seats are certified technicians who are knowledgable in the federal safety criteria and standards. These techs not only inspected the car seats but also gave parents advice and taught them the proper methods of installing the seats.
Safe Kids Emporia has several upcoming events, including more of these Child Passenger Safety Check Lanes this summer, as Long explains.
