The Emporia Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Agency helped area residents clean out medicine cabinets at Operation Prescription Drug Take-Back on Saturday.
The event was located at the Flint Hills Community Health Center and was a free public service event where police and federal drug enforcement took unwanted or expired medication to be properly disposed of. The event was a success with the volunteers filling nine boxes within just the first hour of the event starting. According to
Police Detective Dominick Vortherms these events help with reducing prescription related crime.
