The Emporia High softball team swept a doubleheader from Junction City Friday.
The Lady Spartans scored 7 runs in the first inning on the way to a 10-0 win in game 1. Payten Redeker, Gracie Gilpin and Paige Thomas each had 2 hits to lead the offense. Brynn Riley was the winning pitcher tossing a 3 hit shutout with 5 strikeouts.
Emporia High won the 2nd game 7-1. Brynn Riley and Paige Thomas each drove in 2 runs. Gracie Gilpin was the winning pitcher going 7 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits with 10 strikeouts. The Lady Spartans are now 9-5 for the season. They will host Topeka High Tuesday.
