The Emporia State baseball team out scored Missouri Western 8-3 Wednesday.
The Hornets scored 4 runs in the 9th inning to seal the win. Connor Hurst drove in 2 of the runs with a double. The other 2 runs scored on an error.
Emporia State took a 2-0 lead with 2 runs in the 3rd. Missouri Western scored single runs in the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings to take a 3-2 lead. The Hornets retook the lead with 2 runs in the 7th inning.
The Hornets are now 25-16 for the season. They begin a 3 game series at Northeastern State on Friday.
The first regional rankings are out. Emporia State is ranked 9th.
Central Missouri is the top ranked team.
They are followed by St. Cloud State, Minnesota State, Augustana, Arkansas Monticello, Missouri Southern, Central Oklahoma and Southern Arkansas. Arkansas Tech is the 10th team in the poll.
