The Kansas City Royals out scored the Tampa Bay Rays 10-2 Wednesday afternoon ending a 5 game losing skid.
Whit Merrifield hit a solo home run in the 3rd inning. Adalberto Mondesi hit a 3 run home run in the 6th inning.
Royals starter Jakob Junis left after five innings after getting hit in the right hand by a line drive. Junis went five innings and gave up four hits and one run while striking out six. Manager Ned Yost called it good day for the offense.
The Royals are off Thursday after playing 19 straight games. They begin a 3 game series with the Los Angeles Angels on Friday.
