The investigation is now closed after a suspicious letter was brought to Emporia High School on Tuesday.
Police Lt. Dave DeVries says there was no actual threat and no potentially-harmful substances with the letter, so officers have closed their investigation. No arrests have been announced.
The investigation followed a multi-page letter delivered to the school. Staff raised concerns about the content and called authorities. Initially, Emporia Fire were called out for a possible hazardous materials incident, but Police Lt. Kevin Risley says the investigation went in another direction.
Both Police and Emporia School District administrators say no students or staff were in any immediate threat due to this incident. Further details are not being released at this time.
