Both the Emporia State and Emporia High track and field teams had athletes competing at the KU Relays Friday.
For Emporia State Hannah Shield qualified for the finals in the 100 meter dash.
Luke Stenzel qualified for the finals in the 400 meter dash.
The womens 4 by 100 relay team of Hannah Shield, Crystal Cook, Jordyn Harmon and Jazmin Williams advance to Saturdays finals.
The mens 4 by 400 relay team of Brandon Rhone, Hayden Goodpaster, Parker Evans and Luke Stenzel had the 2nd fastest prelim time to advance to the finals.
The womens Distance Medley relay of Leah Nelson, Jasmine Hurla, Linnea Meier and Nora Wheatley finished in 2nd place.
The Mens Distance Medley Relay team of Jared Reinke, Mitchell Hamlin, Aidan Johnson and Lucas Shryock finished in 5th place.
The womens 4 by 800 relay team of Linnea Meier, Karli Elsner, Joanna Strecker and Nora Wheatley finished in 7th place.
Emporia State also had athletes competing at the Central Missouri Relays Friday. Madelyn Hayes finished in 3rd place in the javelin. Carter Swindale finished in 5th place in the javelin.
For Emporia High at the KU relays. Taylor Milleson finished in 16th place in the shot put.
Elizabeth Schwerdtfeger finished in 20th place in the triple jump.
No track event qualified for Saturdays finals.
Sataurday the girls sprint medley relay team will be running and Elizabeth Schwerdtfeger will compete in the long jump.
