A motions hearing has been set for next month in the case of a Texas man accused of transporting a large quantity of methamphetamine through Lyon County earlier this year.
Luis Alonzo Alvarado, 29, had a pretrial hearing in Lyon County District Court Friday at which time potential trial dates were set for either May 20, June 24 or July 1. Alvarado will next appear in court for a motion to suppress hearing on May 9 at 2 pm.
Alvarado is accused of transporting 30 pounds of meth into the county on Feb. 20 while driving a truck which was registered to another individual. He is officially charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, illegal use of a communication device and felony possession of drug paraphernalia.
Alvarado waived his right to a preliminary hearing back in March.
