A third candidate has stepped up to run for Emporia City Commission.
Todd Maddox is employed by symplr, a healthcare credentialing and payor enrollment services company in Overland Park. This is his first bid for an Emporia or Lyon County elected position.
Maddox joins incumbent Becky Smith and current Emporia School Board member Susan Brinkman as candidates. All three have filed over the past 10 days. Incumbents Rob Gilligan and Bobbi Mlynar have not announced whether they plan to file for re-election.
The candidate filing and withdrawal deadline for the primary election cycle is June 3. The primary election is tentatively set for Aug. 6 if enough candidates file paperwork. City Commission, City Council, mayor and school board positions are up for election this cycle.
