The Emporia State baseball team won the opening game of 3 game series with Washburn 11-3 Thursday.
Josh Norlin hit a 3 run home run in the 2nd inning. Paul Claassen added a 3 run home run in the 3rd inning. Lou Penner drove in 2 runs with a single in the 5th and Brian Grove was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI. Jake Barton was the winning pitcher going 6 innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits with 10 strikeouts.
Emporia State and Washburn play again Friday evening.
