This Thursday, the Emporia State University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will put on their annual ‘Senior Prom.’
Not to be confused with a high school senior prom, the SAAC Senior Prom invites local senior citizens to gather at the ESU Memorial Union for a prom-like dance with some university athletes. Memorial Union Director for ESU, Carmen Leeks talks about what led to this event’s creation.
The SAAC has hosted this event since the beginning, and Christina Wankum, a SAAC member and junior track athlete says it’s one of her favorite times of the school year.
The Senior Prom is this Thursday starting at 7:00 pm and ending around 9:00 pm. The event is free to the public, and the L-CAT will have a special route to ESU that night which is also free but will require a reservation. For more information, email Carmen Leeds at cleeds@emporia.edu.
