The Emporia State baseball team out scored Missouri Western 11-3 Saturday afternoon to win the series 2 games to 1.
The Hornets scored 5 runs in the 2nd inning to take a lead they would not give up. Aaron Dees had the big hit of the inning, driving in 2 runs with a double with 2 outs.
Dees added a solo home run in the 4th inning. Cooper Minnick hit a solo home run in the 5th inning. The Hornets added 3 more runs in the 8th inning. Jake Barton earned the win going 7 innings giving up 3 runs, 1 earned on 5 hits, struck out 9 and did not allow a run after the 2nd inning.
With the win the Emporia State baseball team is now 20-12 for the season and 14-7 in MIAA play. They are in 2nd place in the MIAA Standings. They are scheduled to host Newman Wednesday.
