Area residents are encouraged to attend one of two forums about upcoming changes in education models.
Emporia’s League of Women Voters has slated two forums Thursday, one at 2:30 pm at Emporia State’s Visser Hall atrium and one at 7 pm at Mary Herbert. USD 253 Emporia Superintendent Kevin Case and Emporia State University Professional Development School Director Dr. Sara Schwerdtfeger will discuss how Emporia Public Schools and ESU are supporting what’s called the Kansans Can vision and will answer questions.
The Kansans Can vision is endorsed by the Kansas State Department of Education. It calls for changes in the current education model to make learning more student-focused, with the addition of more support and resources to help students achieve success after both high school and college.
