The Emporia High boys tennis team finished in a tie for 5th place in the loaded 10 team Emporia Invitational Tuesday.
The tournament included both the defending 6A State Champion Blue Valley West and 5A Champion Valley Center. Olathe West the #4 ranked team in 6A and Blue Valley Northwest the #2 ranked team in 6A participated. Blue Valley West finished in 1st place. Blue Valley Northwest 2nd, Olathe West 3rd and Valley Center 4th. Emporia High tied for 5th place with Derby.
Individually for Emporia High Josh Stutler finished in 7th place in singles play. His first loss was to Brett Seaton of Olathe West, the defending 5A State single champion.
The doubles team of Cameron Kienholz and Taylor Moorman also finished in 7th place.
Wyatt Cahoone won 2 of 3 matches played finished in 17th place in singles play.
Brenden Kienholz and Frenando Becerra won 2 of 3 matches played and finished in 18th place in doubles play.
The Emporia High tennis team goes to Newton for a tournament Thursday.
