The state’s Cold Weather Rule comes to a close Sunday night.
The Cold Weather Rule protects residents who are behind on the electric or natural gas bills and otherwise could have their services disconnected unless they make payment arrangements with the utility. With the rule ending Sunday night, customers that have not made arrangements or who have broken their established payment plans may have to pay in full or risk having their services disconnected. Reconnection could well require payment in full before services resume.
The Cold Weather Rule is in effect annually from Nov. 1 through March 31.
