A Wichita man was taken to Newman Regional Health following a single-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called out to KTA mile marker 118 9 miles south of Emporia around 4:30 pm for a reported injury accident. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2016 Lexus GX driven by 76-year-old Thomas Dwight Jacob of Wichita was traveling southbound when Jacob fell asleep at the wheel.
The car then left the roadway, over corrected and rolled. The vehicle then struck a guard rail and came to a rest.
Jacob was taken to Newman Regional Health with suspected minor injuries. His condition will not be released.
Jacob was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
