A 5k run/walk fundraiser will be held Saturday morning at Jones Park to benefit an Emporia High student-athlete.
Emporia High cross country runner Austin Moore was diagnosed with stage four lymphoma in early January. It is a rare form of cancer that is most commonly found in teenage boys.
Emporia High cross country coach Michael Robinson has been helping his students put together this fundraiser. Robinson says the idea for the fundraiser came from the students.
Robinson has expressed great pride in the eagerness the students have shown for this cause.
Registration will start at 7:30 am with the run/walk starting at 9 am. There will be a prize raffle along with T-shirts being sold.
All the proceeds will be going to Moore’s family to help them with travel and treatment costs.
