Emporia High Principal Britton Hart is looking fondly upon different accomplishments at the high school as he prepares for a new role in education.
Hart is becoming the Kansas Association of School Boards’ director of leadership services and partnerships effective July 1. Hart says KASB Director John Heim approached him with the job opportunity. Hart says he wasn’t looking for a new position, but he says the job aligns well with his skill set.
Hart says the growth mindset evident at the school since he became principal in 2014 has led to a range of accomplishments at the school, including improved ACT scores, increased parent involvement and decreased discipline.
Hart says part of the student success relates to the faculty retention rate and the atmosphere of challenge and support at the school.
Superintendent Kevin Case says Hart “had a great vision for what the high school can be” and his leadership will be missed. A search is currently underway for Hart’s replacement.
