The setting of potential trial dates could well be the next step in court for a Texas man accused of transporting a hefty load of methamphetamine through Lyon County earlier this year.
Luis Alonzo Alvarado waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday in Lyon County District Court. He’s accused of transporting 30 pounds of meth into the county Feb. 20 while driving a truck registered to somebody else. Officially, he’s charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, illegal use of a communication device and felony possession of drug paraphernalia.
Alvarado’s next hearing is a pretrial at 2 pm April 19. Typically, potential trial dates are set during the pretrial immediately following the preliminary hearing.
