Back in January, Emporia Main Street asked residents for their thoughts on how the organization can help the area down the road.
Director Casey Woods says Main Street is already breaking down the Vision 2030 data that came in, and he says the results have certainly evolved from similar surveys.
Current community guidance is now seeking different job types for downtown, different preservation activities and a wider range of options for utilizing the community core in and near downtown. Financial support for certain retail ventures is another wish list item.
Woods says an action plan is currently under development, although he says certain aspects are trickier than others — especially on the retail side. Woods says retail development involves a balance of different types and capacity. It also involves work to ensure business sustainability.
