A reported injury crash brought deputies and rescue workers to Kansas Highway 99 just south of the Emporia Municipal Airport on Monday morning, but nobody was taken to a hospital afterward.
Lyon County Deputy Justin Carr says a northbound truck on Kansas Highway 99 was towing a trailer with a skid loader as part of the load. The truck’s power steering malfunctioned, so the driver, 60-year-old Tracy Talkington of Madison, tried unsuccessfully to turn onto Road 110. The truck went into a ditch and the trailer overturned, leaning against a power pole guide wire before stopping.
Highway traffic was allowed past the crash site with minimal issues. Westar Energy was called to the scene to stabilize the pole. No power outages were reported.
