Emporia fire crews responded to a vehicle fire near a building Monday morning, but the fire was out by the time they arrived.
Firefighters were called out to the 3000 block of West Highway 50 around 7:40 am after fire developed in a car that was housed near a maintenance building at Longbine Auto Plaza. Early indications had the car inside the building.
Fire Capt. Bil West tells KVOE News there was a mechanical malfunction, which led to a small fire in the car’s intake manifold. West says dealership staff put out the fire with an extinguisher.
No injuries were reported. A damage estimate is pending.
