New equipment for the Jones Aquatic Center will highlight the agenda for the Emporia Recreation Commission on Monday.
Last month, the Rec Commission board briefly touched on a proposal from Recreonics for equipment through the company’s Wibit line of products, including steps, slides, bridges, aquatic monkey bars and more. The board is considering a purchase of up to $33,000 in equipment, but only if the Rec Commission buys the entire product package.
Products are made largely of PVC pipe material and carry a 3-year warranty. Rec Commission Director Tom McEvoy says this would be the first purchase of new equipment for the Aquatic Center since it opened in 2001 if the board offers its approval.
Reports are also on the agenda, including department information and a wrap-up of the recent 1A substate and 5A state basketball tournaments held at White Auditorium.
The meeting starts at 5:30 pm at the Lee Beran Recreation Center.
