Wichita State lost a heart breaker to Cincinnati 66-63 in the American Athletic Conference tournament semi-finals Saturday.
The game featured 4 ties and 6 lead changes. The Shockers trailed by 13 in the second half but would tie the game at 62 with 3:10 to play. The game was also tied at 63 with 46 seconds to play. Wichita State was not able to take the lead in the closing seconds. Coach Gregg Marshall was proud of the Shockers effort.
Markis McDuffie led the Shockers in scoring with 18 points. Samajae Haynes Jones added 17 points.
Cincinnati will play Houston in the AAC Championship game Sunday.
Wichita State is 19-15 and will have to wait to find out if they get a post season invitation to the NIT or another tournament.
Sunday afternoon the SEC Championship game will be played with Tennessee playing Auburn. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM with coverage starting at 11:45a.
