The Emporia State womens basketball team was defeated by Southwestern Oklahoma State 71-65 in the first round of the NCAA Central Regional Tournament Friday.
Southwestern out scored the Lady Hornets 19-5 in the 4th quarter to pick up the win. Emporia State led 27-22 at the end of the 1st quarter. The held a 43-42 lead at halftime. In the 3rd quarter Emporia State would led by 10 points 60-50. In the 4th quarter the Lady Hornets were 2-12 shooting the ball and scored only 5 points. Coach Toby Wynn called it heart breaking loss.
Tyra Jones was the lone Lady Hornet to score in double-figures finishing 17 points and 10 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season.
Senior Addie Lackey said the 4th quarter just did not go their way.
Senior Tiana Moala said it was still a good season.
Coach Toby Wynn said there were a lot of positives from the season.
The Emporia State women finish their season 22-9.

Addie Lackey, Tyra Jones, Emily Miller, Tiana Moala, Tatum Graves and Brittany Kramer.
6 players can return:
Jessica Wayne, Morgan Lauden, Kali Martin, Daley Handy and Karsen Schultz.
Tre’zure Jobe played in the seasons first game and missed the rest of the season due to injury.
